We all know that those cookies & drinks you overindulged in at your holiday party (while no one was looking) seemed like a good idea at the time, but you may be regretting those extra calories and sugar now. It’s okay, we all go a little ‘sugar crazy’ this time of year, after all, we deserve a little treat for all of the hard work we put in these past 12 months!
With the holiday season winding down and the new year right around the corner, it’s important that we take this time to reflect on our goals. It is easy to lose track of our diet and exercise routines during these busy winter months. Setting a goal is easy, but keeping up with that goal can be challenging.
Here are some tips on how you can keep up with your health & fitness goals in the New Year…
Set a goal with a friend
Having someone else to keep you motivated and on track will make it harder for you to stray away from your goal. When you are held accountable, you will be amazed at just how much more you can accomplish. It also makes working towards the goal more fun when you have your bestie by your side!
Make a moodboard
It may sound silly, but moodboards are actually a great way to keep you on top of your goals. Once you create your moodboard full of fitspo, hang it in a place where you will be able to view it often. Looking at it every morning before you start your day will keep you motivated and inspired!
Make your goal a habit
Research suggests that on average it takes 21 days to form a habit. While this is true, it could take some people longer to form the habit. When you turn your health goals into habits, they become a lifestyle, thus making all of the effort put forth to achieve something part of your daily life. There is no such thing as having too many good habits!
While these are just a few of our favorite tips, don’t be afraid to explore different ways to keep yourself on track. Maybe you reward yourself at specific milestones you achieve while working towards completing your goal. After all, any type of progress is improvement! So get your running shoes on, grab your favorite water bottle and get started on your your journey to a healthier you. We will be cheering you on through your journey and waiting for you at the finish line!
